Today’s outlook: Pakistan opens Kartarpur Corridor, PIA reduces fares

Here are some of the news stories we are expecting to follow today (Tuesday):

  • The PIA has reduced its fares by Rs4,500 for one-way domestic flights. Travelling to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to now cost Rs12,000 as opposed to Rs16,000.
  • Pakistan has opened its side of the Kartarpar Corridor with SOPs for the convenience of the Sikh devotees. No pilgrim from India, however, visited the gurdwara as the registration of pilgrims remain suspended there.
  • Another eight areas of Rawalpindi will be sealed until July 10. These localities have reported several coronavirus cases.
  • The Federal Cabinet meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled. The participants were supposed to discuss on a 12-point agenda including pension and issuing licenses for an illegal weapon.
  • The Rs7,294.9 billion budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 has been okayed in the lower house of the Parliament.
  • The Lahore High Court has ordered Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif to get himself tested for coronavirus from the Institute of Public Health on July 2.
