Headlines 9am: PML-N leader criticises PM, traders dismiss fake news

  • The All City Tajir Ittehad has rebuffed rumours of conducting business on Saturdays and Sundays. They say the news on social media is false and shopkeepers should follow the government’s instructions as mentioned in the last notification. The body has also urged the business community to adhere to the coronavirus SOPs.
  • Prime Minister Imran Khan says people have to follow the coronavirus SOPs as going into a lockdown is not an option for Pakistan anymore. He said taxes were reduced by Rs800 billion due to the lockdown.
  • He said the government may decide to close certain hot spots and get the help of the Tiger Force to combat the locust invasion and plant more trees to help the environment.
  • PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali has released a video message from London. He has accused the PM of letting “the biggest sugar thief” escape abroad. He said those who made use of the taxpayer’s money will be held accountable. Ali was referring to Jahangir Tareen.
