Harbhajan, Yuvraj regret asking Indians to help Shahid Afridi’s foundation

Former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh have said that they regret helping Shahid Afridi after the former Pakistan all-rounder criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Afridi, in a video, said that Modi was playing politics in the name of religion and will have to answer for oppressing the people of Pakistan.

Harbhajan, while speaking during a conversation on Instagram, reacted to the Pakistan cricketer’s comments.

“I wanted to play my role in helping humanity given the circumstances at that time,” the former off-spinner said. “I didn’t know that it would hurt so many people. I would like to apologize to all of them and I promise you that I will never such statements that will hurt the people of my country.”

Yuvraj also voiced his thoughts on the comments made by the Multan Sultans’ all-rounder.

The Indian duo had called upon people to donate to the Shahid Afridi Foundation to help with its coronavirus relief efforts.

The legendary players came under criticism from Twitter users in India for urging the public to help a Pakistani.
