Here are some of the news stories we are expecting to follow today (Wednesday):
- The Lahore High Court will hear a bail plea filed by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif in an assets case against him. The politician refused to appear before NAB on Tuesday, citing his health condition. He said he’s available for questioning via video link.
- The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has presented its report in the PIA plane crash. The authority said PK-8303 captain Sajad Gul violated continuous warnings given by the air traffic controller. The report said the landing speed was 250 nautical miles more than it was supposed to be. The pilot was also asked to turn the plane left at an 180 degrees angle but did not comply. Ninety-seven people were killed in the May 22 crash.
- The Sindh government has allowed public transport to resume. It has also conditionally allowed online taxi services to resume operations in Karachi.
- The Punjab government has allowed shops, business and factories to operate between 9am and 7pm from Monday to Friday.
- The Afghan Taliban have not severed their ties with Al-Qaeda yet despite signing a peace deal with the United States, a UN report said Monday.
- The Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan has expressed serious concerns over attempts to encroach upon 80 acres owned by a builder in Karachi’s Taiser Town.
