The Federal Investigation Agency Karachi chapter has summoned the heads of three oil marketing companies after finding evidence of their involvement in the petrol shortage across Pakistan.
The FIA says it found evidence of hoarding of petroleum products during raids at these companies’ depots in Karachi.
The company heads have been sent notices to appear before the agency today (Thursday) to clarify the matter and give their version of events.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has also okayed strict action against those individuals found responsible for the shortage.
In the past week, ever since the government approved a cut in the petrol price, people were seen forming massive queues at petrol stations across the country that complained of shortages.
On the other hand, teams from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will be checking petrol pumps across the country to make sure fuel is being sold and at the right price.
Petrol pumps violating the government’s set price will be sealed.
