Today’s outlook: Transport resumes in Punjab, Cabinet discusses sugar report

Here are some of the news stories we are expecting to follow today (Thursday):

  • Punjab transporters will resume service with SOPs from today after entering an agreement with the government. Passengers travelling via GT Road will be charged 20% less fare.
  • A Federal Cabinet meeting has been called at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad at 1pm. The Sugar Inquiry Commission’s report naming the people responsible for sugar crisis in the country will be presented.
  • Syed Fazal Agha, a JUI-F MPA and former Balochistan governor, and PTI MPA in the Punjab Assembly Shaheen Raza have died of the coronavirus.
  • The defence lawyer in the Dr Imran Farooq case concluded his arguments on Wednesday, saying the prosecution doesn’t have any evidence to link MQM founder Altaf Hussain to the murder.
  • The Sindh government has allowed religious congregations on Eidul Fitr and Jummatul Wida.
