Today’s outlook: PM Khan discusses Kashmir with Turkey, Abu Dhabi

Here are some of the news stories we are expecting to follow today (Monday):

  • Prime Minister Imran Khan has discussed “brutality” in Indian-administered Kashmir in telephonic conversations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
  • Bodies of 41 of the 99 people that were killed in the PIA plane crash in Karachi’s Model Colony have been handed over to their families after identification. The PIA spokesperson says the air-traffic controller who was in conversation with the plane’s pilots before the crash has been called up for investigation. A team from Airbus has also arrived in Karachi to assist the investigation.
  • Several people flocked to Murree, especially Malka-e-kohsar, during Eid despite the coronavirus lockdown. They were, however, stopped by the police.
  • Dr Zafar Mirza, the PM’s special assistant on health, has warned that the government may further intensify the lockdown if people continue to ignore the precautionary measures required to stop the spread of COVID-19.
  • Astronomers believe that they have found evidence of the birth of a new planet in the solar system.
  • K-Electric has warned that Karachi might face power outages because the temperature has gone up.
  • PM adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said Pakistan will investigate the flour and drugs crises after the sugar inquiry is completed.
