Today’s outlook: Airbus team arrives in Karachi to investigate crash

Here are some of the stories SAMAA Digital is expecting to follow today (May 25).

  • A team of Airbus is expected to arrive in Karachi today to assist the investigation of the PIA PK-8303 plane crash. A total of 99 people were on board, of which two survived. The team will travel from Toulouse to Karachi and return on May 26 (Tuesday). They have even been given an exemption from the mandated isolation/quarantine policy.
  • Muhammad Zubar, who miraculously survived the PIA plane crash, has been discharged from the hospital. His family confirmed that he is feeling much better now.
  • Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said that the houses destroyed in the plane crash will be restored soon. He also said that the SBCA should be questioned for allowing construction of double-storey houses near the airport.
  • Pakistan is celebrating the second day of Eidul Fitr. People have been urged to celebrate with simplicity and follow all social distancing protocols.
  • Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that those involved in the flour crisis will be named soon. We will even see how many times the price of flour went up during the PTI government and why, he remarked on Sunday.
  • The number of coronavirus cases in the country is slowly going up as the country has eased the lockdown. More than 32 people lost their lives in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 1,133. Eight hundred and forty-six cases were reported in Sindh alone, of which 706 were from Karachi.
