An eleven-member team of experts from European aircraft manufacturer Airbus examined the site of PK-8303 plane crash in Karachi’s Model Colony on Tuesday.
They are assisting the investigation of the plane crash in Karachi that claimed 97 lives on May 22 (Friday).
The team has flown from Toulouse to Karachi. They were supposed to visit for one day but now have decided to extend their stay.
They are examining why the aircraft’s landing gear didn’t open on time and looking at other aspects too. They will review the condition of the plane’s engine, flight control system, and wings. The experts even took pictures and made videos of the houses destroyed in the crash.
The Aircraft Accident and Investigation Board and the Civil Aviation Authority briefed them about the accident. They even visited the runway and saw the CCTV footage of the crash.
The plane’s black box and flight data record will be handed over to the Airbus team and they will take it to France with them.
56 bodies yet to be identified
Federal Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that 56 bodies have yet to be identified, while 41 bodies have been handed over to the heirs after DNA testing.
He claimed that a package will soon be announced for those who lost their loved ones in the plane crash. The investigation committee is expected to submit its report in three months.
PPP leader Saeed Ghani, on the other hand, has labelled the committee to be ‘Arshad Malik Bachao’ committee. The PIA CEO should be held responsible. “Sometimes he blames birds, the other times the pilot, when you have decided everything, then why investigate it?” Ghani claimed that Malik has blamed the pilot just hide his own incompetence.
