An eleven-member team of experts from European aircraft manufacturer Airbus reached Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport from Toulouse Monday morning. They’ll help investigate the cause behind the PIA plane crash in Karachi that claimed 97 lives on May 22 (Friday). A total of 99 people were aboard the Airbus A320, PIA’s flight PK8303. Of them, 97 people were killed and only two passengers survived. The plane’s black box and flight data record has been gathered and will be handed over to the Airbus team. According to the PIA spokesperson, the air-traffic controller who was in conversation with the plane’s pilots before the crash has also been called up for investigation. So far, the bodies of 41 of the 97 people that were killed have been handed over to their families after identification. On the other hand, Gul Muhammad Bhatti, the father of pilot Sajjad Gul, says he doesn’t trust the inquiry reports prepared by the PIA officials. “They are themselves conducting the inquiry and leaking the reports,” Bhatti said while speaking to the media with the Punjab governor in Lahore. The remarks come hours after reports started circulating in the media and social media that there was no technical fault in PK-8303 before it took off from the Lahore airport Bhatti said officials are trying to pin the blame for the crash on the pilot by accusing him of negligence.
